For whoever does not love their brother and sister, whom they have seen, cannot love God, whom they have not seen.( 1 John 4:20)
the believers are but brothers, so make settlement between your brothers.( Al-Hujurat” (Q49:10)
Finally, be you all of one mind, having compassion one of another, love as brothers, be pitiful, be courteous1 Peter 3:8) “None of you will believe until you love for your brother what you love for yourself.”( Related by Bukhari & Muslim)
All men are equal before the law(the law)
My question is: all these statements above, are persons with disabilities not part of it? No matter who you are or where you find yourself you must belief in one of the following being it the religion or the law. So with all this why are some people still thinking they are better or above persons with disabilities? It’s very sad that some still find it difficult to interact with PWDs discrimination towards PWDs is still flowing. PWDs are crying on a daily basis with lots of challenges, obstacles, segregation and had no one to wipe their tears for them. Only few care to listen. Most of our African governments who should empower, shelter, guide, protect and fight for our rights as PWDs care less about us. They are busy on how they could last in power than to take care of our needs and ensure inclusion. There are many laws protecting persons with disabilities PWDs but sadly in Africa this laws are only kept in our books without implementation.
Brothers, sisters, our fathers and mothers please let’s put our hands in supporting and giving equal access to PWDs for today is us but tomorrow it can be you.
Together we can fight against discrimination and embrace inclusion.
