A group of well dedicated and passionate people in the Gambia, conscious of the problems confronting persons with disabilities, convinced of the need to find solutions to these problems and form a common front, determined to advocate, capacitate and to bring about protection of rights and the welfare of persons with disabilities in general without fear, favor and irrespective of whatsoever affiliations; have therefore come forward to form a foundation called foundation for the civic rights of persons with disabilities -FCRPD. The foundation also provide assistance in the form of training volunteers as human guides for persons with disabilities to ensure accessibility and freedom of movement.  This foundation is founded by a visually impaired special needs teacher teaching at the school for the blind and a disability rights activist called Samba Jaiteh. Samba has gone through several human and disability rights trainings from different institutions and universities.  Samba who has gone through numerous challenges couple with the experience gained from both trainings and challenges he sees PWDs go through motivate him to found such a nonprofit to stand for the rights of persons with disabilities.
